Day 1 - Petersburg, AK
After your airport pickup, freshen up onboard. Board our vessel at noon. Enjoy lunch. At 1:30pm, join our Naturalist and enjoy the fishing community of Petersburg. Take a walk thru the “muskeg forest”, visit the local museum and learn about the local Scandinavian culture. (Lunch, Cocktails, Dinner)
Day 2 - Cruising and Exploring
Heading north in Stephens’s passage we will be looking for Humpback whales as they feed and play in the local waters. If weather permits, we may have a chance to visit a large Sea Lion haul out. See 100’s of these large mammals as they feed and frolic at Brother’s Island. Our anchorage tonight will be in a local bay of the Captains’ choice.
Day 3 - Majestic Fjords Terror
Cruising today includes: Endicott arm, Dawes glacier and Fords Terror. This region is some of the most scenic in the Tongass national forest. Fords Terror is one of the most majestic hidden Fjords in SE Alaska and we are the only Small Ship that spends an evening here at anchor! Be among a handful on the planet to visit this Majestic Fjord. Kayak in this wilderness. Tonight we’ll enjoy a serene evening away from the crowds.
Day 4 - Fords Terror-pm Juneau, AK
Experience more of the great wilderness. There’s time for kayaking or exploring. We’ll take our skiff in search of bears foraging on the beach. Later today, we’re cruising northbound for Juneau, AK,. We enjoy some time dockside this evening in town. (Brunch, Cocktails, Dinner)
Day 5 - Juneau, Alaska’s Capitol
Explore Juneau. There’s time to explore Alaska’s Capital. Perhaps you’ll enjoy an optional adventure: You could take an optional visit to the Mendenhall Glacier, ride the Juneau tram or go “Flight” seeing. Enjoy the day and be back on board for a 3pm departure. We’re off to new vistas, cruising westbound for tonight’s anchorage.
Day 6 - Hoonah, AK
After Breakfast we’re off for a Native experience. Visit the Icy Strait Point “Historic Salmon Cannery”. Enjoy a “Tlingit” cultural experience arranged for your education and entertainment. There’s time for a forest walk or even a thrilling adventure, as you might embark on the optional, world’s longest Zip Line.
Day 7 - Remote Tenekee Springs, AK
Today we visit the small community of Tenekee springs (pop. 99). Enjoy a stroll to the bakery and the local mercantile. Chat with locals for an interesting Alaskan afternoon. Our onboard naturalist will educate and entertain you on our walk in the rainforest. Haul anchor and cruise north through Chatham Strait. Look for Humpback Whales along the way.
Day 8 - Arrive Sitka, AK
We cruise into Sitka during lunchtime. Our local tour begins at 1:00pm. Visit the Russian Orthodox Cathedral, and local Raptor center, Totem Park, and the Sheldon Jackson museum. There’s time for shopping, then come back aboard the island spirit for cocktails and dinner. It’s our final dinner onboard. Enjoy time tonight with the crew, sharing photos and stories of the journey.
Day 9 - Flights home, depart Sitka, AK
Breakfast aboard the Island Spirit followed by transfers for flights home. (Breakfast)
